The backwaters in Kerala consist of Allapuzha,  Kottayam, Trivandrum, Kollam, Kuttanad, Kozhikode, Kazaragod, Cochin and Kumarakum backwaters. A network of lakes, rivers and canals fringe the coast of Kerala. These backwaters, while a great inland thoroughfare on water, offer an alternative lifestyle.
